Understanding Your Unique Value
The 2024 Olympics are just around the corner in Paris! In this grand event, some athletes will emerge victorious while others may not. But does that define their worth? In life, what truly holds significance for you?
Max Lucado's book, "You Are Special," has resonated with millions worldwide. Why is self-worth essential for everyone, not just Olympic champions? In the fictional village of Wemmicksville, the characters known as Wemmicks assign stars and dots based on perceived success. For instance, Punchinello struggles with numerous dots and no stars, leading him to believe he can never succeed. However, after meeting Lucia—who bears neither dots nor stars—he learns of Eli, the woodworker.
Gathering his courage, Punchinello visits Eli’s workshop, where Eli reassures him, saying, “I don’t care what the other Wemmicks think of you.” This revelation astonishes Punchinello. Eli further explains that Lucia's lack of stickers stems from her understanding that what God thinks of her is far more vital than others' opinions. This insight transforms Punchinello's perspective, leading him to realize, “Stickers only stick if you let them.” He learns that he is uniquely crafted by God and that he is special.
Your Identity Holds Weight
As you navigate life, consider how your identity shapes your future. Embracing your identity in Christ can bring clarity and purpose. According to scripture, “You are the temple of God” (1 Corinthians 3:16–17). Each follower of Jesus carries this identity, embodying a new creation filled with the Holy Spirit, akin to a mobile sanctuary.
The divine presence that once consumed offerings in the Jerusalem temple now resides in you. Your body is the sanctuary of God. When compared to your divine identity, human labels—achievements, culture, gender, and social status—can distort your self-view. However, through surrendering to your identity in Christ, you illuminate God’s light even amid your imperfections.
Mobile Temple Identity: Who's Driving You?
In this journey of faith, remember that God desires to guide your life. Envision yourself as a vessel or vehicle meant for His glory. Rather than striving alone, allow Him to take the driver's seat. Jesus exemplified this surrender in prayer, saying, “Your will be done.” Following His lead allows God to unveil your true identity.
Ask God to reveal His unique design for you. He understands your purpose because He created you. Until you align your will with His, you may not discover the person you were meant to be.
Mapping Your Unique Identity
The Bible serves as your guide. You can monitor your spiritual progress by engaging with its teachings and assessing your life’s trajectory. Your identity in Christ is significant, as the Holy Spirit empowers you for extraordinary living. The divine fire within you lights the path for a life that reflects God’s presence. The choices you make will ultimately determine your journey's direction.
“For we are God’s fellow workers; you are God’s field, you are God’s building...” (1 Corinthians 3:9–17). The paths you select today will shape your future and lead to the Day of Judgment. Strive to embody a mobile temple, reflecting Jesus in all you do.
