# Insights Gained from This Weekend's Winter Storm Experience

Embracing the Present Moment
During the recent winter storm, I found myself captivated by the serene beauty of nature outside my window. The sight of snowflakes gracefully falling and accumulating on trees and the ground was mesmerizing. I took the time to observe the birds in their natural surroundings, capturing delightful images that will remain in my memory.
Cozy moments by the fire with my dogs and boyfriend brought us closer together, allowing us to enjoy each other's company free from the distractions of technology. It was a refreshing change.
Practicing Gratitude
I took a moment to reflect on the things I’m grateful for:
- Thankful for the warmth provided by the fire, fueled by nature's resources.
- Appreciative of my creative mind and healing body.
- Grateful for the shelter that protects me from the harsh weather.
- Cherishing the quiet moments that allowed for meditation.
- Valuing the simplicity that life offers.
Recognizing Our Dependence on Technology
In our daily lives, we often rely heavily on technology: the internet, phones, apps, televisions, computers, and more. We depend on electricity for hot water, heating, lighting, and even to keep our food fresh. It’s vital to occasionally disconnect from all these devices and enjoy being present in the moment.
The Refreshing Power of Movement
Engaging in physical activity outdoors in the fresh, crisp air was incredibly invigorating. I spent time shoveling snow around my home and fetching wood to keep the fire going, all while breathing in the rejuvenating cold air. This kind of movement offers a refreshing cleanse for both body and mind.
Adapting to Change
Despite having a plan for the weekend, things didn’t go as expected. While I accomplished many tasks, I had to adjust my approach. And you know what? That’s completely fine.
I still managed to complete writing assignments, tackle bookkeeping tasks, clean the house, and even prepare meals—albeit in a different way than I had originally envisioned. I also captured photos for my wellness blog and wrote pieces for Medium.
