Interviewing can be quite a journey. It's certainly thrilling, but it can also be overwhelming and perplexing. Each organization has its unique process, leaving candidates often uncertain about the next steps.
If you’re in the midst of interviews, I’d like to share some insightful questions you can pose to clarify the role, the hiring process, company culture, diversity and inclusion efforts, and potential career advancement.
Ultimately, interviews should be reciprocal; you should gather all necessary information to make an informed choice at the end. Get your notes ready as we explore my top ten questions to ask Hiring Managers.
Section 1.1: Questions About the Role
- What does a typical day entail for this position?
- How does this role contribute to the overall success of the company?
Section 1.2: Questions About the Interview Process
- How many rounds of interviews should I anticipate?
- Will I need to complete any tasks or prepare a presentation?

- What does success look like in this position?
- In what ways will my Manager assist me in achieving my career objectives?
Section 1.3: Questions About Company Culture
- If you could change one aspect of your company's culture, what would it be?
- How does your organization define a flexible work environment?
Section 1.4: Questions About Diversity and Inclusion Efforts
- How do you foster inclusion and belonging within your team?
- Does the company transparently share its diversity and inclusion data?
These questions will help you gain clarity about the company's values and practices, as each organization—and even individual Hiring Managers—may have varying perspectives on diversity and inclusion, culture, growth opportunities, and internal procedures. I hope these questions empower you to gather all the information you need before making a decision.
