Juice cleanse day 2: I am 4 parts juice to 1 part human

I’m typing this on my phone in bed because I promised you daily updates on my Fuel Station juice fast, and daily updates you will get!

Please note: unless you’re very interested in the minutae of juicing, this will be a very boring blog for you. There are other more interesting posts on this blog so please do feel free to have a look around.

It’s been 2 days since I last ate and my stomach feels like it is physically searching my entire body for a morsel of solid food. I feel sort of sorry for it, like it’s this big, ugly, blind creature that’s been abandoned by its mother.

Last night I went to bed at 7.30pm to distract myself from my hunger. I woke up early this morning with that weird delirium you get when you’ve slept too deeply, like you’ve been on some epic intergalactic journey and you’re not quite sure who you are anymore. The hunger from the night before had mysteriously disappeared (hunger is weird like that) and I had loads of energy for my morning walk and yoga/Pilates sesh.

I had my first juice at 10.30am and felt fine until the afternoon, when the headache set in. I got some disappointing news at the end of the day that, interestingly, switched a little voice on in my mind that says “fuck the diet, Zoe…go and dip a spoon in the peanut butter jar and have a cry.”

But I resisted. Instead, I had a bath with a candle and some soothing music and I thought out my problem like an adult, instead of comfort eating the feelings away.

I finished the day with my last 2 juices in quick succession, and didn’t have time for the little energy booster one.

Observations: I definitely feel colder at the moment and I’ve read about other people on juice cleanses experiencing similar.

I lost 2kg in 24 hours, which is so ridiculous. It’s obviously the absence of food in my gut, or air, and not actual fat loss but that’s ok because the point is to feel good and fresh in my body, and I do!

That’s it from me for today! Stay tuned for more juice adventures tomorrow.
